The area teems with wildlife, from hippo pods in the waterways to an exceptionally diverse array of bird species. Wildlife

The Busanga Plains is renowned for its large lion prides, as well as sightings of wild dogs and cheetah. Guests can also look forward to encountering species such as puku, red lechwe, buffalo, and wildebeest, along with the elusive roan antelope. As the floodplains dry out, more wildlife, including zebras and sable antelope, move in from the surrounding woodlands. Hippos are a common sight in the channels, and birdwatchers will delight in spotting over 500 avian species, including the rare Fülleborn’s longclaw.

Camp Experience

Nestled under fig trees, Wilderness Busanga Bush Camp offers an intimate and personalized safari experience. This exclusive four-tent camp provides sweeping views of the ‘Plains of Plenty,’ making it the perfect base for wildlife observation. The main area, set under canvas, is a guest favourite, especially at sunrise when the rising mist reveals the floodplain teeming with lechwe and puku. The outdoor dining area, shaded by majestic trees and illuminated by a multi-lantern chandelier at night, adds a touch of enchantment to the wilderness experience.
